re: perkins

After a week long hiatus in Paris, Perkins road waited patiently for my return.  Based on the pin-up with Jim, I have done a little research on Peter Calthorpe and his approach to “transit-oriented developments.”  His book, The Next American Metropolis: Ecology, Community, and the American Dream, describes transit-oriented development.

Perkins overpass working as a destination.  Slowing users down to stop and smell the roses.    For that matter, slowing traffic down to allow for users to accomplish this. 
I like the analogy of that strip of Perkins serving as a Wal-Mart turned inside out.  A place for locals to get necessities without having to travel too far.  [...]
